I started operating a Jimmy Jib in the early 90's. Back then, the Jimmy Jib was a pretty new idea. Sure, crane shots have been around since the early days of Hollywood, but this crane was special. The Jimmy Jib allowed for crane shots to finally become affordable. The very first models went out to about 10 feet maximum length. Today the Jimmy Jib can be built to over 40 feet in length. They have evolved into a stellar product. The sweetest part of a Jimmy Jib is it’s smoothness. In the hands of an experienced operator, you can achieve shots that inspire. You will find that Jimmy Jibs are used all around the world and are a major asset to the television and motion picture industry today.
I have been a jib operator since 1992 and have taken part in shoots under all types of conditions and I have traveled to a wide variety of places around the United States and the world. I have recently relocated back to the Nashville, Tennessee area from the Twin Cities in Minnesota and I am excited to be in this region again. The jibs are built to travel and I am willing to go anywhere in the United States or pack it up and put it on a plane. The choice is up to you.
